Painted Keelback Xenochrophis cerasogaster is a species of Colubrid snake found in Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh and India (Assam, Uttar Pradesh).
This snake is also called the "Dark Bellied Marsh Snake." It was first described as Psammophis cerasogaster in 1839 (Cantor) and subsequently received additional binomial names.
The length can exceed two feet. It is brown dorsally with some indistinct bands or spots. Ventrally, the snake is purple, mottled with darker colors. A yellow band extends along each side from head to tail. This snake feeds on frogs and fish.
