Xchange was a live daily factual entertainment programme broadcast on the CBBC Channel everyday at 7.30am for one hour. It was presented by Ortis Deley, Jez Edwards, Ade Adepitan, Gemma Hunt, Michael "Abs" Absalom and puppet "Vinnie" the ferret.

The show featured a website where users can sign-up to collect points, and also could gain points for being a caller on the show. People who obtained 1000 points could enter a draw to appear on the show and be a "Gold X-IDer" in the studio.

There was also a "dream on" topic, where viewers wrote in what the dream would be, and behold, some came true.

The first era of Xchange came in 1998 when it was designed as a programme shown on CBBC TWO in the summer holidays. This was repeated every year until 2002 and the launch of the CBBC Channel which turned the show into a daily format.

Xchange featured celebs, comedy, fun & games and had a weekly discussion point (branded sequentially as "The Big One"/"Backchat"/"Sticky Situations") where viewers have to give their thoughts and opinions on a topic. The show also contained a time period for "Xperts", who were viewers of the show who reviewed new movies, games, books and songs. Two of the most memorable "Xperts" were Ollie Jones and James McDonald of Birimingham. They were described as original and very funny. So funny in fact, that Ally Castle (the woman who had originally chosen the boys to do the show from auditions in their school) invited them back down to London to be special guests on the show, appearing throughout the whole episode. The two also featured on the adverts for "Xchange" shortly afterwards, being the only "Xperts" to actually have a speaking part on the advert.

The format of the programme changed greatly over the years (it originally began as a 'holiday mornings' programme several years ago). It has been presented by many different people including Angellica Bell, Erica Harvey, Anna Kumble, Holly Willoughby, Sarra Elgan, Tony Craig, Steve Wilson, Jean Anderson, Rhodri Owen, Rani Khanijau and Joe Challands.

The last edition of Xchange aired on March 31, 2006 ending with Vinnie J Ferret's (the "J" initial was also revealed to be "Jebadiah") own version of classic song "My Way" as "Our Way" with a little vocal help from the presenters of the show.

This show was replaced by Sam and Mark's Level Up.

Celebrities who starred on the show include: Verbalicious, Hilary Duff, and Girls Aloud.

Other people who appeared on the show include: Jordan Fawley and Jordan Lacey, Alan and Jay, Michael and Laura, Charlie and Holly, Johnson Family, McGray Family, Alex Smith (Dream On film director)
