Talk:XB-0 Hresvelgr
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Aircraft is fictitious, existing only in a video game. The article should be merged with Ace Combat ZeroMontco 04:44, 12 April 2006 (UTC)
I saw we put ALL AC aircraft in single list form User:Stuka2 17:39, 12 April 2006
- That would include the XFA-27, numerous ones from AC3, the X-02 from 04, 5, and 0, the ADFX-01 from 2, 5, and 0. And, if each aircraft is given a description like the ADF-01, the page may in fact be longer than that suggested for use on Wikipedia. I would just get rid of this page as the information already exists on the Ace Combat Zero page, and, information regarding the Hresvelgr, like the Arkbird in Ace Combat 5, is relatively spare - sparse enough to be summed up in one longer paragraph. IdoAlphaOmega 01:48, 13 April 2006 (UTC)
- I wouldn't say so...the Japanese website has tons on the Arkbird, just its history is enough for an article. I just haven't had the time to make one just yet. And also, the website will, almost certainly, release more information of the XB-0 later on, as it did for the Arkbird.deadkid_dk 12:06, 13 April 2006 (UTC)

- Idk, the Hres could make an article by itself, if expanded in the future, but a list with all AC aircraft would also be a cool idea. YF-23 22:22, 13 April 2006 (UTC)

- The key word is "if". Sure, if a lot of information does come out about the Hresvelgr, that's great; I have no problem with that, but, as of now, a lot less information has come out regarding the plane. Except for one sentence, the whole description of the Hresvelgr is taken directly from the ACZ page; there's nothing new added here, and it doesn't appear that enough new information exists somewhere out there to warrant a seperate article. It's like if we made an article about the Gault team... sure, it could be done, but the info is already on another page. IdoAlphaOmega 04:22, 14 April 2006 (UTC)

- Also vote to merge with Ace Combat Zero 24.9.10.235 22:31, 7 June 2006 (UTC)
- Don't merge, other Ace Combat superweapons have their own page such as the arkbird and excalibur, this one should too--Awesome Username 13:09, 6 July 2006 (UTC)
I say keep it and expand it. There definately is a lot of info we could add, especially from AC.jp. I say keep it for now and call it a stub. By the way, how the hell do you pronounce "Hresvelgr" anyway? 74.117.219.161 13:47, 4 September 2006 (UTC)

- HURR-REZ-VELL-GURR. That's how i pronounce it.
Keep and expand, there's more information that could be added. Stewart 22:33, 15 October 2006 (UTC)
Keep and expand I see no reson to delete it when other articles simmilar to it exist. The Fictional plane argument doesn't stand up as there are TONS of articles on Wikipedia about Fictional aircraft (Most with a LOT less content than this!). There is too much info here to include it in the ACZ article. Now, if someone wants to make an article for all Ace Combat fictional Aircraft and THEN merge articles, fine, but untill that happens (if it happens at all) I say leave it as is and expand to it. - Comment: So who's going to clean it? As it stands, it reiterates what's already present in Ace Combat Zero with plot summary which WP:NOT proscribes. Combination 19:47, 6 November 2006 (UTC)
- Comment: No offence Combination, but you certainly live up to your name. You seem to like merging topics and redirecting links regardless of what anyone else says about it. Merging the XB-0 into the Ace Combat Zero Article is about the equivilant to merging the F-22 into the Untited States Air Force Article. The article expands on the little bit that is mentioned about it in the ACZ article. Do you propose we merge all the aircraft in the US invintory into the Air Force Article? Just because this is a game and a fictional aircraft shouldn't change the importance or relevance of it's content. Oh, and as for the "plot summary WP:NOT" the WP:NOT clearly says: "Wikipedia articles on works of fiction should contain real-world context and sourced analysis", now take a look at the article: "The Hresvelgr is named after the Norse giant Hræsvelgr." and "XB-0 Hresvelgr is a fictional aircraft in the Playstation 2 game Ace Combat Zero by Namco." If you ask me, that fills the Real world context and sourced analysis. Cbale2000 16:40, 8 November 2006 (UTC)

- It may be tolerable as part of a larger topic (ie within Ace Combat Zero) but at this point it fails the first criterion in the notability criteria guideline for fiction. What is there to say about this particular subject that can't be said in Ace Combat Zero? Comparing with other articles that either fail or break wikipedia policy and/or guidelines is a bit vague, they will be dealt with in due course as well. Combination 16:56, 8 November 2006 (UTC)

- Alternatively, we can compile the information we have about these various "superweapons" into a list, as a compromise. Combination 17:41, 8 November 2006 (UTC)
-
- Perhaps it may not be clear yet but as information becomes more available (as it did with the Arkbird) I feel a lot more can be said in a seperate article than in the one paragraph alloted in the ACZ article. I will also say that I am all for compiling the AC superweapons into one article, BUT I believe that the new ariticle should be neerly complete if not completely finished (as much as it can be due to the constant stream if new info) before we start deleating and redirecting existing information. [edit] Pronounciation
It's "Rays-velg", you can hear it mentioned in the mission once in awhile. Zaku Two 01:05, 20 October 2006 (UTC)
- Since it's got a name so far away from general English pronunciation and a lot of people don't know the 'h' is silent maybe there should be a phonic spelling if anyone can use the phonic alphabet. Also Zaku, are you sure the 'r' sound is silent or just drowned out by the sound effects? Auxfusion 13:01, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
-
- Yeah, Norse words translated into English with an R at the end after another consonant pretty much always end with the R silent. Zaku Two 22:44, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Luftwaffe / Air Force
Firstly, I realise Luftwaffe means 'Air Force' and Belka takes a lot of references off Germany but there are several times in both AC05 and ACZ where the Belkan's airforce is referred as the Belkan Air Force instead of Belkan Luftwaffe so if it's okay with everyone I'll alter it in the article.
