Xasthur is a black metal band formed by Scott Conner, better known as "Malefic", in Alhambra, California in 1995. The band became a one-man project in 1999 and is currently signed to Hydra Head Records, who released the band's most recent album, Subliminal Genocide, together with another label, Battle Kommand, in 2006. That same year, the band's split album with Leviathan was released in Europe by Displeased Records.[1] The band's previous album, Nocturnal Poisoning, was released on vinyl by Southern Lord Records.[2]
Malefic has also toured with Sunn O))), but stated in an interview for Pitchfork Media that he "will always keep Xasthur a band that will not play live."[3]
