Xaric is an open source internet relay chat client for Unix-like systems. It is a fork of BitchX that removed most of the BitchX specific features while maintaining the color interface and some default key bindings. The source code was dramatically decreased in size but some common features remain unimplemented. Currently the project sits idle. While Xaric never saw wide spread use it was popular enough to be included in the FreeBSD ports tree.
