Xara Dulzura is an annual art, music and creative mythology festival lasting several days. It takes place at the Madre Grande Monastery in late April, generally on or before the time of the traditional Beltane holiday.

[edit] History

Xara was founded by Mark Hinkley. It began years ago as a camp at Burning Man. The first independent Xara event took place in 2003 in Dulzura, San Diego County, at Madre Grande. That year it drew 200 people. It grew to an attendance of 400 in 2004 and attracted 850 people in 2005.

Xara has developed close associations with The Mutaytor, as they often collaborate on shows of increasing scope.
