I got your message about how I got JCreator to run in WINE on Linux. Right now I don't have the version of WINE on hand, but it was the one that comes standard with Knoppix 5.0 (DVD edition). I noticed that it wouldn't run the PRO edition when the settings in winecfg were set to Windows XP or Windows 2000. But when I set it to Windows NT, I could compile and run Java programs with a Windows version of the JDK (I believe I had JDK 5.0 installed on an seperate partition).

As far as the usability I haven't toyed around with it yet, but it did compile the sample hello world program bundled with JCreator.
