[edit] Welcome
Hello, X purelife x, and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}}
on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few good links for newcomers:
I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and vote pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome!
Thanks also for signing up to Wikipedia:WikiProject RuneScape. However, you might need to change your entry on the participation list, which currently says 'pking guides'. Wikipedia is not a game guide - the RuneScape articles are about explaining the game to a non-player, not providing a game guide to current players. The RuneScape Wiki is a specialist version of Wikipedia for players - on the other hand, there is a fair bit to be done on the Wikipedia articles:
- Change most mentions of "you" to "players" and when possible and appropriate, be more specific such as "attacker", "wielder", etc.
- Get more references for all the articles such as postings on the official RuneScape site here: [1] or some other site.
- Use consistency for all terms throughout the articles. E.g. RuneScape and RuneScape Classic must look like this when mentioned. The proper term is "two handed sword" for any of the two handed swords.
- Write out contractions, do not use abbreviations, change everything to the British spellings of words, fix grammar and spelling, etc.
- Generally improve the RuneScape Series in whatever way you can.
- Add [[Category:RuneScape Images]] to any RuneScape images you see.
- Change the selected article at the start of each month.
- Change the RuneScape News section on the Portal if new news on RuneScape comes out.
- Cite your work! All information placed into the RuneScape Wiki and Portal MUST be cited, per WP:V.
- Watch the articles in the series for vandalism and remove it when it appears.
- Remove all fancruft from the articles, keeping them encyclopaedic. See here for a guide.
- Be more specific in what you are talking about, simply saying go north or something is pointless, explain the area ect.

Major news
|
WikiProject RuneScape, our former child project, was moved to become a task force of this project in January as it had a small scope but the task force is still going strong to this very day.
This past quarter marks the beginning of our new collaboration system MMOGCM. Past collaborations thus far have been World of Warcraft and MMORPG, both of which made it to GA status while it was the MMOGCM.
As well, we now have an Outreach Department which works on this newsletter as well as spreads the word of our project.
WikiProject MMO is also now a participant in the Work via WikiProjects division of Wikipedia 1.0 and as such, we will be helping decide which are the best (based on quality and importance) articles within our scope. Project members can discuss which articles are to be included here.
|
|
We are currently trying to improve this task force so that we can edit all RuneScape-related articles in an organized manner. To do that we started a massive overhaul which we invite all task force members to participate in.
We have also gotten our main article, RuneScape to good article status this quarter. All this, and the task force was only created in January.
