[edit] History
WZBY was WGEE-FM with a country format named "Green Bay's Hot New 99 Country" until 1996.
WZBY had been WLTM during the 90s as a Soft AC "Light 99.7 WLTM". In the late 90s it began simulcasting with sister WROE in Appleton.
In 2001 it switched to Hot AC as "Magic 99.7" with syndicated Rick Dees in the morning. In March 2002, it switched once again, this time to Rhythmic CHR as WLYD "Wild 99-7" At this time their sister CHR station WIXX took a more adult lean. The rhythmic CHR format proved popular and Wild soon became one of Green Bay's top rated stations.
In fall 2004, Wausau sister station WOFM switched to rhythmic CHR as "Wild 94-7". The 2 stations initially shared the same automation logs. At the time of WOFM's flip, all of WLYD's airstaff was removed.
Both WLYD and WOFM ran the Wild format jock-less until February 2006 when WZBY was born. About a month later, WOFM flipped to the same format under the name "94.7 The Peak"
[edit] Airstaff and Presentation
There are no liners/imaging except at the top of the hour when a voice guy says "You're hearing a different kind of radio station (xylophone sound effect) W Z B Y (tone) 99.7 The Bay" at the top of the hour. Midwest's other "Guaranteed Music Variety" stations are the same.
[edit] Music
Music on WZBY consists of classic hits and oldies from the 60s and 70s, 80s hits, and 90s-Current Hot AC and some gold Soft AC. The variety of music is guaranteed. The format was created by programming genius Jeff McCarthy.
[edit] Automation Logs
WZBY shares automation logs with its sister simmulcast WOFM and WIZD This has been done since WOFM became Wild 94.7. Both stations have the same songs on at the same time although they do not simmulcast with WZBY.
