WZAC 92.5 FM / Z92 is Licensed to Danville WV located in Boone County, West Virginia. Danville is located about 25 miles southwest of Charleston. WZAC started in 1989. WWBB AM 1450 was the first radio station in Boone County. In 1989 WWBB was bought by a local person. Later he built the WZAC 92.5 FM and changed the calls on WWBB 1450 to WZAC for little while. Later on WZAC 1450 was off air and only the FM was on the air. The station started out local people. Then as the years went on it went to 24/7 Formats. Like Jones Radio, Radio One (now Waitt Radio), started playing a mix of Country and Classic Country. Then WZAC went to 24/7 format with Jones playing the "Today's Country" brand. Finally in 2002 the owner flipped the station to all Classic Country.
Monday through Friday at 9 AM the station runs the "Gospel Hymn Hour". At 9:45 AM the Community Bulltion. At 10 AM The Trading Post airs from 10 to 10:35 AM. The is program allows listeners to call in items to sale, trade, or give it away. On the weekends its mainly Sat, expect for Saturday Morning @ 9AM with Old Time Country Show. On Sundays the station runs Religious Programming from 8am to 1pm.
Studios was always located in Madison WV just down the road from Danville. The transmitter site is atop the Newport Mountain near Danville. In the Summer or 2004 the owner moved the studio to Danville. The coverage area isn't the best it covers about 25 to 30 mile radius. Slogan is "Classic Country Z92". WZAC runs AP Network News at the top of the hour. WZAC runs WV Metro News updates during the rest of hour.
