Wyre and Preston North (UK Parliament constituency)

Wyre and Preston North is to be a constituency in the United Kingdom House of Commons. It will elect one Member of Parliament (MP) to the UK House of Commons by first past the post.

[edit] Boundaries

It has been created as the sixteenth seat of the county of Lancashire, England by the Boundary Commission for England. It contains the Fulwood and Rural areas of Preston and many small towns and villages of Wyre.

The seat of Wyre and Preston North contains the Wyre towns of Thornton, Poulton-Le-Fylde, Garstang, St Michael's On Wyre and Catterall. From Preston are added the suburban Fulwood areas and the rural parishes such as Woodplumpton, Barton and Broughton. The electoral wards used in the creation are:

  • From Preston - Cadley, College, Garrison, Greyfriars, Preston Rural East, Preston Rural North and Sharoe Green
  • From Wyre - Breck, Brock, Cabus, Calder, Carleton, Catterall, Garstang, Great Eccleston, Hambleton and Stalmine-with-Staynall, Hardhorn, High Cross, Norcross, Staina, Tithebarn.

This seat will be fought for the first time at the next UK General election. Ben Wallace, Member of Parliament for Lancaster and Wyre has been selected to fight this seat for the Conservatives.
