[edit] Brief Biography
I am 29, Married, live in Huntsville, AL and work in a small chain overstock bookstore both as a manager and webmaster. Chief hobby has long been, and probably always will be, reading books and collecting them. Other hobbies include poetry (on the wane), tea (drinking, reviewing, researching and collecting (both the tea itself and all the assorted odds and ends that goes with it)), and the occasional RPG (largely of the pen and paper variety but also the video-game variety). And British comedies, which I have been addicted to since an early age. Oh, and making parenthetical notes, apparently.
[edit] Plans
My plans are to wait out my wife's chemistry undergrad degree, and then seek a masters of library sciences and turn my bookstore job into a librarian job. That or write. Or, well, maybe run a bookstore than I own.
[edit] Reading Interests
Since books are a large part of my life, need to take a moment to discuss some of my favorite bits. My chief genres are speculative fiction, "classics" (especially 19th century British), "underground" (either indie-press and/or surrealism) fiction, and various others. Some horror. Some comedy. Anything that strikes my fancy. I read about 93% longer fiction, about 5% non-fiction, and a smattering of shorter fiction. I read poetry from time to time, and enjoy it, but not including it in this count.
My favorite wordsmiths include Philip K. Dick, Charles Dickens, Carlton Mellick III, Mark Danielewski, Chuck Palahniuk, Christopher Moore, Stephen King, Frank Herbert, Robert A. Heinlein, Howard Phillips Lovecraft, Neil Gaiman, Ray Bradbury, Thomas Hardy, and others, just to give you a range of how strange my interests might go. I am developing a love for Jules Verne as we speak, and look to read more adventure novels by the likes of him and Alexander Dumas or Robert Louis Stevenson.
