Wymering railway station was opened to serve the ajacent Race course Wymering Park on the north west outskirts of Portsmouth on the Portsmouth, Fareham Eastleigh/Southampton line it was situated between Cosham and Portchester. it was situated where Racecourse road crosses the railway The station closed along with the racecourse when the land was acquired by the Military at the outbreak of World war 2. Under the City of Portsmouth local plan there are plans to re instate a station Paulsgrove in the area to serve the large housing estates of Paulsgrove and Wyering as well as industrial units and Port Solent
