From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Wulfila Glacier (Lednik Wulfila \'led-nik vul-'fi-la\) is located on Greenwich Island, Antarctica and is bounded by Oborishte Ridge to the NW, Terter Peak and Razgrad Peak to the NE, and Ephraim Bluff to the SE. It extends 3 km in NW-SE direction, and 2 km in SW-NE direction, draining southwestwards into McFarlane Strait.
The glacier is named after Bishop Wulfila (311-383 AD) of Nicopolis ad Istrum (the present Bulgarian settlement of Nikyup near Veliko Tarnovo) who created the Gothic alphabet, and laid the foundations of the Germanic literature.
