WTJU

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Founded at the University of Virginia in 1957, WTJU-FM is one of Charlottesville, Virginia's two volunteer-run radio stations. Appearing at 91.1 on the FM dial and online at WTJU.net, WTJU broadcasts an eclectic mix of music in two-hour blocks, spiced with news.

Among the big names who have graced the WJTU airwaves as deejays are Pavement's Stephen Malkmus and Rolling Stone critic Rob Sheffield.

Fifty years after launch, the station is still based at UVA and broadcasts from the Lambeth Commons in the Lambeth residence halls. The general manager is Charles "Chuck" Taylor.
