WSOE is a student-run noncommercial radio station based at Elon University in Elon, North Carolina.

WSOE's format is alternative rock, but per the station's charter, jazz is played every weekday morning from 6am to 10am, and until 12pm on Fridays. WSOE has an automated broadcast system that broadcasts music 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, all year long. The automation system plays the current music in musical rotation, as well as jazz during the applicable time. Although the automation system is always running, it can be and is turned down so that student and local DJs can do their show and play their music.

Every weekday from 6pm to 10pm has a certain theme for specialty shows (as opposed to format shows, which are regulated on what they can play). Tuesday is Talk Tuesdays from 4pm to 11pm, and listeners can tune into a variety of programs like Phoenix411, the weekly news show, The Big Show,In The Know, a political debate news show or The B-Cuts, three guys who love music and play stuff that you haven't heard in a while or have never heard at all.

It is also the exclusive home of coverage of Elon University volleyball and women's basketball and has coverage of men's and women's soccer and baseball.

WSOE is run by a board of nine executive staff members, a student general manager, and one faculty advisor, not including the approximately 100 DJs who host one- or two-hour shows. All aspects of the station are run by the student executive staff, including bills, music, and most production.

WSOE is overseen by the Elon University Media Board, which oversees all student media at Elon including the newspaper The Pendulum, the television station ESTV, the yearbook Phi Psi Cli, and the literary magazine Colonnades; with all of which WSOE works closely by providing promotional spots to ESTV and The Pendulum, which in return run promos for and dedicate sections to WSOE.

WSOE provides a live stream over the internet, and beginning in 2007, WSOE will begin podcasting select shows on their website. Currently, WSOE broadcasts approximately ten miles from Elon, but long-term plans are also in the works to provide WSOE to the Elon School of Law in downtown Greensboro, North Carolina.
