[edit] Article source
Initial article stub was moved from the article Armband (formerly Armbands). --TenOfAllTrades 05:32, 30 Jan 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Just one question
The article says blue means "Republicans" and red means "democrats". Is it referring to the Republican and Democratic parties in the U.S.? Because in the U.S., it's currently the other way around, blue for left-wing democrats, red for right-wing republicans. Stancel 21:59, 9 May 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Not sure
I'm not sure about that. I just got them off Google. I'll switch them over. AndrewDuffell 16:11, 9 May 2005 (BST)
[edit] Minor Edit
In the Blue section of the table, I amended "Conservatives" to read "Conservatives (UK)." This is to prevent confusion between the UK's Conservative Party and those subscribing to the political philosophy of conservatism. Please feel free to amend as necessary.
[edit] Bands
[edit] Brown band
I saw someone wearing a brown band in a Sunnyvale (CA) restaurant which said "Diarrhea". I asked him about it, and he told me it's the world's #1 killer.
- I guess it is more the dehydration caused by diarrhea that kills.
[edit] Glow-in-the-dark MILK band
My school gave me a Never Stop Milk wristband, it's glow in the dark. I didn't know wear to put it in the table. It's white when not glowing, green when glowing. It says "Live Stronger with MILK www.neverstopmilk.ca". WestJet
- I'd create a new section for it called White/Green Glow, and maybe ad a foot note explaining it...-Andrewduffell 09:21, 17 December 2005 (UTC)
- I don't know how to... Anyone else?-
I got these Halloween rubber bands inside chocolate/candy packages. All my classmates wear them, like all the guys. When did this become popular to teens? -Lil_Flip246
[edit] Yellow band
I've got an orange band from Thailand ("long live the king" and "we love the king" in thai). I think, it's the one you are refering to as yellow. (It's definetely orange. :-)) They told me it's for supporting the king's charity projects. (It's only here that i read that it has something to do with the celebration of the king's crowning anniversary.) 84.160.94.79 18:54, 3 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Charity or Commercial
Are we happy promoting commercial wristbands? Is it of interest that certain companies give away or sell wristbands? I am more interested in charities and causes myself.
[edit] Merge request
Not sure I personally support a merge of Masturband in here, given the specificity and the eventual opportunity to expand the article people want to merge here. --badlydrawnjeff (WP:MEME?) 15:35, 10 April 2006 (UTC)
- Listed here are eleven other black bands supporting specific causes. Masturbation avoidance is no more specific than Melanoma awareness or Armenian Genocide awareness. You have often mentioned "the eventual opportunity to expand the article". If more info were to come out the article could always be split out again. However there doesn't appear to be more to the story. Two of the participants in the recent AfD suggested merging it here. -Will Beback 19:07, 10 April 2006 (UTC)
-
- I agree that it should be merged for the same reasons. -Andrewduffell 21:35, 10 April 2006 (UTC)

-
- Merge, I'd say. I agree totally that there's no reason why these masturbands need a separate page, if the other types of black bands sit perfectly well in the table. -- (James McNally) (talkpage) 01:43, 12 June 2006 (UTC)
-
Perhaps merge to Gel bracelet? It's difficult to say without seeing a picture. - Malkinann 08:46, 1 September 2006 (UTC)
- No. These are totally different.[1] -Andrew Duffell 10:38, 1 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] black/ white
me and a alot of my friends actually have the Invisible Children Awareness wristbands; so i don't know exactly why it keeps getting deletedBrennan 05:36, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
- If you provide a source then it won't be deleted. -Will Beback 05:51, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Suggestion + additions
I have an orange one which supports the United Way, and a maroon and gold one which is for Chippewa Pride. Also, I think we should find links to wherever you can get specific wristbands.
- Also, a blue and white one is for the Detroit Pistons
[edit] The big list
I think this list has got way too big, and meaningless for use in an encyclopedia. I suggest we replace it with a few of the best known bands.. i.e Original Livestrong, BBC bullying one, and Make Povery History. It has got that every cause is listed, many in multiple colours.
