Wrexham (Welsh: Wrecsam) is a county borough centered on the town of Wrexham in north-east Wales. The county borough has a population of 130,200 inhabitants.
The county borough was formed on April 1, 1996. Most of the area was previously part of the Welsh district of Wrexham Maelor - with several communities coming from Glyndwr.
The area is largely part of the historic county of Denbighshire (although not forming part of the modern Denbighshire principal area), with the exception of two traditional exclaves of Flintshire - Maelor Saesneg and the parish of Marford and Hoseley.
