WrestleMania VI was the sixth pay-per-view event, and the first WrestleMania to be held outside of the U.S. It took place on April 1, 1990 at the SkyDome in Toronto, Ontario with an announced attendance of 67,678.
WrestleMania VI was subtitled The Ultimate Challenge, which was also the name given to the main event between Hulk Hogan and The Ultimate Warrior, who were the two most popular wrestlers in the WWF at the time. The match was for both the WWF Championship (which was held by Hogan), and the Intercontinental Championship (which was held by Warrior), and was billed as "Champion vs. Champion, Title for Title".

- Roma pinned the Brawler.
- Rick Martel defeated Koko B. Ware (3:51)
- Martel forced Ware to submit with a Boston crab.
- Demolition (Ax and Smash) defeated The Colossal Connection (André the Giant and Haku) (w/Bobby Heenan) to win the WWF Tag Team Championship (9:30)
- Ax pinned Haku after a Demolition Decapitation.
- After the match, André turned on Heenan and Haku and attacked them after Heenan slapped André.
- Earthquake (w/Jimmy Hart) defeated Hercules (4:52)
- Earthquake pinned Hercules after the Earthquake Splash.
- Brutus Beefcake defeated Mr. Perfect (w/The Genius) (7:48)
- Beefcake pinned Perfect after Beefcake sent Perfect into the ring post.
- Roddy Piper fought Bad News Brown to a double countout (6:48)
- Piper appeared with half of his body painted in black, after being labeled as racist by Bad News Brown.
- The Hart Foundation (Bret Hart and Jim Neidhart) defeated The Bolsheviks (Nikolai Volkoff and Boris Zhukov) (0:19)
- Hart pinned Zhukov after a Hart Attack.
- The Barbarian (w/Bobby Heenan) defeated Tito Santana(4:33)
- Barbarian pinned Santana after a top rope Clothesline.
- Dusty Rhodes and Sapphire (w/Miss Elizabeth) defeated Randy Savage and Queen Sherri in a Mixed Tag Team match(7:52)
- Sapphire pinned Sherri after Miss Elizabeth pushed Sherri over Sapphire.
- The Orient Express (Sato and Tanaka) (w/Mr. Fuji) defeated The Rockers (Shawn Michaels and Marty Jannetty) by countout (7:38)
- Jannety was counted out after being blinded with salt thrown by Sato.
- Jim Duggan defeated Dino Bravo (w/Jimmy Hart and Earthquake) (4:15)
- Duggan pinned Bravo after hitting Bravo with a 2x4.
- Ted DiBiase (w/Virgil) defeated Jake Roberts by count out (11:50) to regain the Million Dollar Championship
- Virgil threw Dibiase back in the ring after a double K.O. on the outside.
- The Big Boss Man defeated Akeem (w/Slick) (1:49)
- Boss Man pinned Akeem after a Boss Man Slam.
- Dibiase attacked Boss Man at ringside prior to the match, igniting a brief feud between the two.
- Rick Rude (w/Bobby Heenan) defeated Jimmy Snuka (3:59)
- Rude pinned Snuka after a Rude Awakening.
- WWF Intercontinental Champion The Ultimate Warrior defeated Hulk Hogan to win the WWF Championship (22:51)
- Warrior pinned Hogan after a Warrior Splash in a match where both titles were on the line.
- The IC Title was vacated shortly afterwards.

- Robert Goulet sang a rendition of "O Canada" before the show.
- A teenage Adam Copeland (Edge) attended WrestleMania VI, sitting eleventh row ringside. Twelve years later, he would return to the Skydome as a competitor for WrestleMania X8. At WrestleMania VI, Dallas Page drove a pink Cadillac to the ring as a part of the entrance for The Honky Tonk Man and Greg Valentine who performed at the event. Twelve years later, Dallas Page would also return to the SkyDome as a competitor for WrestleMania X8.
- WrestleMania VI was the last WrestleMania that Gorilla Monsoon and Jesse Ventura hosted together, as Ventura left the WWF after the event. Monsoon and Ventura had commentated every WrestleMania up until that point (excluding WrestleMania 2, where Monsoon commentated from Chicago and Ventura from Los Angeles).
- Celebrity guests in attendance for WrestleMania VI included Steve Allen, Rona Barrett, Robert Goulet, and Mary Tyler Moore.
