WPSC
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
WPSC is the college radio station for William Paterson University, located in Wayne, New Jersey. Its frequency is 88.7 on the FM dial.
The call letters PSC represent the original name of the school, Paterson State College.
WPSC is probably best remembered for being the only college station in New Jersey that broadcast a Top 40 music format with strict format restrictions in an attempt to prepare the student staff for commercial radio. It has since altered its format to offer a more traditional College Radio format. The station has never regained the Arbitron ratings it enjoyed under previous management.
Station alumni from the "heyday" of Top 40 include Rich Kaminski (WLTW), Tom Stephens (WCBS 880), and Kevin Burkhardt (WFAN).
The station's coverage area is most of northern New Jersey, and broadcast facilities are located on the Wayne, New Jersey campus of William Paterson University.
