Worli is a part of South Bombay which extends from Haji Ali to Prabhadevi. Worli is bounded by the Arabian Sea to the west and the neighbourhoods of Haji Ali, Mahalaxmi, and Prabhadevi to the north.The nearest railway station to the neighborhood is Mahalaxmi.Now a days even the area of Lower Parel is referred to as Upper Worli due to a massive construction boom in the area.
Some of the most exclusive residential buildings in Bombay are in Worli, such as the towering Sumudhra Mahal and the 20-storey Eden Hall Apartments. The seaface near Worli also has a number of extremely exclusive and prestigious residential addresses. Worli was one of the Mill lands of Old Bombay,and now these mills are converted into Posh Offices and Malls. Worli has the Mahalaxmi Racecourse known as The Royal Western Turf Club of India,The Wellington Golf Course,Nehru Planetaurium,Nehru Centre,Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Stadium and Haji Ali dargah as main landmarks.
A link road between Bandra and Worli to mobilise traffic,is presently under construction.

The best way to travel in and out of Worli is by the B.E.S.T bus service.There is no railway station in Worli.The nearest station is Mahalaxmi.The other major railway stations are Dadar and Lower Parel.Worli is connected very well to other parts of the city by roads.The completion of Bandra-Worli Sealink will make the travel from suburbs to the downtown areas easier.

Worli was one of the original seven islands that constituted the city of Mumbai. Although primarily a fishing village, the Worli Fort, a British fort, was located there. It also had a mosque, the Haji Ali Dargah, on a rock in the sea, which was connected at low-tide to the island by a natural causeway. The island of Worli was connected to the main island of Bombay in 1784, with the completion of the Hornby Vellard. In 1842, the Love Grove sewage pumping station was completed. It has special sluice gates opening to the sea, which are opened during periods of low tide.

Worli has been one of the busiest office areas in Mumbai since the late 70's.The first major development was the Shivsagar Estate located on Dr.Annie Besant road.The major companies having properties here are TATA,Novartis,HDFC Bank,and many more. Till september 1997 Poonam Chambers had the offices of companies like ESAB,US Vitamins But after the building collapsed they had to shift. The latest developments are happening in the old Mill lands with many television stations having their studios in them.Even multinational companies like Deloitte have set their base in Worli. Even malls have emerged with Launch of Atria on 20th May 2006.
