Worlds of War II is a free online browser-based strategy game. It operates in real-time on a 'tick' basis, which is usually set to one 'tick' per hour. It is the sequel to the original game entitled Worlds of War. Most of the game's players are from the United Kingdom and it has developed a very close knit community of players, particularly in universities (especially Portsmouth).
The military units in Worlds of War II are loosely based on the British units that were used in the first part of the Second World War. The game has also been noted for making certain players rather obsessive. It has its own supporting IRC network, which allows people to chat with the other players and enjoy the game's community aspect.
As of December 2006 there are plans to introduce German troops into the game.[citation needed]
One of its virtues is that game can be tried before committing to joining up. By logging in with guest in the username and password, possible members can decide if the game is for them.
