World Snooker Championship 1999

The 1999 Embassy World Snooker Championship took place between the 17th April to the 3rd May 1999 at the Crucible Theatre, Sheffield. The total prize money was £1,148,000 with £230,000 going to the winner. Stephen Hendry won his 7th title by beating Mark Williams in the final by 18 frames to 11.

Notable moments from the championship include:

  • Stephen Hendry won the world title for a record seventh time beating Ray Reardon and Steve Davis' six titles. Ironicly, Hendry won all his titles in the 1990's while Davis won his six in the 1980's and Reardon won his in the 1970's.
