The Embassy World Snooker Championship took place at the Crucible Theatre, Sheffield between the 19th April to the 5th May 1986. Outsider Joe Johnson beat Dave Martin, Mike Hallett, Terry Griffiths, Tony Knowles and the world No 1 Steve Davis to win the world title. Stephen Hendry also made his debut losing 8-10 to Willie Thorne
