World Association of Universities and Colleges

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The World Association of Universities and Colleges, WAUC, is an institutional accrediting body not recognized by the United States Department of Education.[1] It is run by Maxine Asher, director of the American World University, an unaccredited school.[2] WAUC's website claims that "laws in the U.S.A. prohibit the recognition of global accreditation associations."

Currently, WAUC lists 21 accredited schools, three schools with accreditation in progress, and 26 "members only" schools. In January 2006, Asher offered "new universities who wish to become member or accredited members of WAUC" a special rate of $100 USD.[1]
