[edit] Plot

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

The Joker steals a statue made of solid Kryptonite and comes to Metropolis where he makes a deal-with Lex Luthor to kill Superman in exchange for one billion dollars. Batman comes to Metropolis following the Joker. Bruce Wayne comes to work with Luthor on a robotics project. Lois Lane starts a romance with Bruce Wayne, inciting some jealousy from Clark Kent. As Batman investigates, he meets Superman, who doesn't approve of the Dark Knight's methods. Superman uses his x-ray vision to learn Batman is Bruce Wayne. Later, between a bugging Superman's cape and watching him with Binoculars, Batman learns Superman's secret identity of Clark Kent. The Joker kidnaps Lois Lane in order to lure Superman to his death, but Batman's intervenes. Together, the Superheroic duo save each other and Lois. Joker later sends a Lexcorp-Waynetech robot to kill Batman, inadvertently leading to Batman's temporary unmasking in front of Lois.

Finally, the villains turn on each other. Joker gets the upper hand, kidnapping Luthor and stealing his powerful new Lexwing aircraft to attack Metropolis. Superman and Batman put aside their differences to save the city together. Joker is caught in the Lexwing as bombs explode in the aircraft and it falls to the Hobb's Bay; Metropolis authorities doubt his survival. Luthor is questioned about his connections to the Joker. Lois bids farewell to Bruce, saying she loves him, but can't get past the doubts his secret identity raise. Bruce and Clark part ways on good terms.

[edit] Trivia

  • The title is a reference to World's Finest Comics, an anthology comic which often featured the team of Superman and Batman after their first meeting in Superman #76. Prior to that, the comic had simply printed Batman and Superman in separate, unrelated stories.
