[edit] Ugly AND pointless!
This has got to be one of the ugliest and most pointless maps around.
- Ugly because the colours are all over the shop. How about a gradation from white to black, or white to red, etc? The rainbow effect looks terrible.
- Pointless because there's no real meaning to the graph. What does it signify? Does it suggest anything? Only physically large countries are noticeable, which would suggest it is only appropriate for displaying population density. Plus the rainbow colour scheme makes it impossible to compare countries, even the big ones.
I wouldn't call for this to be deleted, but at the very least it needs the colours to be put into a clear gradation. El T 18:00, 2 July 2006 (UTC)
- using a large range of colours makes it easy to see which range one country falls into. Gradations may look nice as an overall effect, but its often difficult to tell the subtle differences in the shade. the point to this map would be to look at one country and be able to know which group it falls into. nevertheless, i will change it to one closer to how you suggest and see if it is better. --Astrokey44 03:02, 3 July 2006 (UTC)

- This is definitely better. El T 10:07, 3 July 2006 (UTC)

- I think it would be less confusing if the gradient range was more contrasting, such as blue to red, white to black, something where both hue and value played a role; right now with either extreme of the spectrum reading as very dark in value, it's a bit confusing - not to mention how it changes from blue to green rather abruptly. And I'm wondering if the legend should be reduced to 6 or 7 shades instead of 19?--Roedelius 03:30, 21 July 2006 (UTC)

- I also can't see the difference between the USA and China/India. The scale is still pretty wierd. It's not really linear or logarithmic. The difference between the top two colours is very subtle, but the difference between the populations is the greatest difference of the whole scale: a factor of 5.
