[edit] Character outline
Wonderwice is a small, thin, and somewhat child-like arrancar. He has blond hair, lavender eyes, freckles, and buck teeth to match. Wonderwice looks somewhat like a younger Kisuke Urahara or a male version of the vizard Hiyori. What is left of his hollow mask remains on top of his head, and resembles a tiara or small crown. His hollow hole, like other arrancar, has moved. It is slightly lower than that of a typical hollow, closer to the base of his rib cage. His arrancar uniform is also slightly different, having an open area on the chest, revealing his hollow hole. He also wears a studded collar around the fully-zipped collar of his jacket.
Wonderwice's personality is child-like, much like his appearance. When sent on a mission to kill, he instead played around with a dragonfly. He shows a bit of hostility at one point, firing a retaliatory blast when blocked by Kisuke Urahara, but quickly reverts back to his regular state after doing so. He isn't able to speak clearly, only saying a few syllables at a time like a child would. Kaname Tōsen says that Wonderwice is a pure being (like himself) and that pure beings often tend to stick together, which is why Wonderwice follows him everywhere when possible.[1]
Wonderwice was created by Sōsuke Aizen as a new addition to his arrancar army. It was implied that he was an Espada by Soul Society.[2] However, he was not present at the meeting of the Espada, suggesting that even though he isn't one, he is just as strong.[3]
[edit] Synopsis
[edit] Arrancar arc
Wonderwice first appears as he is born, and then joins two Espada, Yammy, Luppi, and then former Espada Grimmjow Jaggerjack, as part of the third assault on the material world. As his companions start to fight, he was watches birds flutter around. Due to his apparent lack of interest in fighting, watching the birds, eating bugs, and otherwise strange behavior, Rangiku Matsumoto wonders if it was even okay to fight with him. Later, as Luppi battles four shinigami alone, Wonderwice is seen chasing a dragonfly with the intention of eating it. Before he can do that, he looks up and sights Kisuke Urahara. He then proceeds to chase after and attack him. Whether or not Wonderwice was attacking Urahara from behind or merely trying to grab his hat is unclear. After Urahara blocks, Wonderwice fires a powerful bala at Urahara. After firing the blast, however, Wonderwice reverts to his passive state. He leaves along with the Espada after Ulquiorra orders a withdrawal to Hueco Mundo.
[edit] Hueco Mundo arc
Wonderwice is present during the restoration of Grimmjow Jaggerjack's arm and No. 6 tattoo. It should be noted that, as Grimmjow blasts away Luppi's upper body with a cero attack, Wonderwice seems genuinely astonished by Grimmjow's actions and senseless murder. Wonderwice has been shown to be depressed, which in addition to his distant and odd nature, has caused him to form an attachment to Kaname Tōsen and seems to stay close to him, to which Tōsen retorts that pure creatures are naturally attracted to each other. Tōsen also says that although Wonderwice is pure, he is not sure where exactly his pureness lies, adding even more mystery to his character. Gin Ichimaru, on the other hand, seems to frighten or disturb the newborn arrancar, but Tōsen explains that Ichimaru just has that effect on everyone.
[edit] Zanpakutō
Wonderwice's zanpakutō is very unusual compared to the others in Bleach. It is a large purple sword strapped to his back, about as tall as he is. The hilt resembles a western claymore rather than the more common katanas, although the familiar hilt weaving is present. The name and released state of his zanpakutō haven't been revealed yet.
