Wondabyne, New South Wales

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Wondabyne is a locality located on the Central Coast of New South Wales, Australia and is part of the Gosford City Council local government area. The area has a rusted crane and a small sandstone quarry that is now disused.

The train station has a very short platform - only the length of half a normal CityRail InterCity Double Decker (V-Set) carriage . Since Wondabyne is an optional stop, passengers wishing to alight must inform the train guard before arrival and alight from the rear door only.

The station is located on Mullet creek which branches off the Hawkesbury River north of the township of Brooklyn.

Wondabyne is a popular starting point for bushwalks into the surrounding Brisbane Water National Park. Destinations include Pindar Cave, Kariong Brook and Wondabyne Trig - the latter offers extensive views of the surrounding area. Walking trails also join the Great North Walk (which stretches from Sydney to Newcastle) for more extensive trips.
