Womelsdorf, named after John Womelsdorff (with one "F" removed), is a borough in Berks County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 2,599 at the 2000 census. The main thoroughfares through Womelsdorf is High Street which runs east-west through the borough and Route 419 which runs north-south. Route 422 is located on the northern edge of town. A Pennsylvania state historic site, the Conrad Weiser Homestead, is located in Womelsdorf. This site interprets the life of Conrad Weiser, a well-known 18th century German immigrant who played a major role in the history of colonial Pennsylvania.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of 2.3 km² (0.9 mi²), all land.

As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 2,599 people, 1,061 households, and 691 families residing in the borough. The population density was 1,153.4/km² (2,995.8/mi²). There were 1,112 housing units at an average density of 493.5/km² (1,281.8/mi²). The racial makeup of the borough was 96.46% White, 0.65% African American, 1.42% Asian, 0.96% from other races, and 0.50% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.19% of the population.

There were 1,061 households out of which 31.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 52.5% were married couples living together, 8.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 34.8% were non-families. 28.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 12.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.41 and the average family size was 2.98.

In the borough the population was spread out with 24.3% under the age of 18, 6.4% from 18 to 24, 32.7% from 25 to 44, 20.5% from 45 to 64, and 16.1% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 37 years. For every 100 females there were 96.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 92.0 males.

The median income for a household in the borough was $45,082, and the median income for a family was $53,456. Males had a median income of $38,309 versus $24,514 for females. The per capita income for the borough was $22,133. About 2.2% of families and 5.9% of the population were below the poverty line, including 5.5% of those under age 18 and 9.5% of those age 65 or over.
