Wolsey is a town in Beadle County, South Dakota, United States. The population was 418 at the 2000 census.

As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 418 people, 174 households, and 121 families residing in the town. The population density was 70.8/km² (183.3/mi²). There were 185 housing units at an average density of 31.3/km² (81.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the town was 99.52% White, 0.24% Native American, and 0.24% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.48% of the population.
There were 174 households out of which 28.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 60.3% were married couples living together, 5.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 29.9% were non-families. 27.6% of all households were made up of individuals and 19.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.40 and the average family size was 2.92.
In the town the population was spread out with 24.4% under the age of 18, 5.7% from 18 to 24, 25.8% from 25 to 44, 23.4% from 45 to 64, and 20.6% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 43 years. For every 100 females there were 100.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 95.1 males.
The median income for a household in the town was $35,313, and the median income for a family was $42,679. Males had a median income of $27,500 versus $20,288 for females. The per capita income for the town was $14,319. About 8.0% of families and 9.2% of the population were below the poverty line, including 9.2% of those under age 18 and 18.8% of those age 65 or over.
