Wolfgang Fahrian (born May 31, 1941) is a former German football player.

[edit] Career as a player

Schooled on the goalkeeper position following a goalkeeper shortage at TSG Ulm 1846 in the first phase of the 1960's, Fahrian had initially been a defender. Although impressive in his new role, his call-up by Sepp Herberger for the West Germany clash against Uruguay in April 1962 made a great stir due to the fact he was not a top-division player at that time. In the fixture he kept a clean sheet, something that brought him into the 1962 FIFA World Cup squad of West Germany. Had his first cap caused a stir, the starting job he earned for the West Germans for the duration of the tournament was a true sensation as it had been expected that Hans Tilkowski would be undoubted first choice of Herberger and Fahrian just reserve.

However, the 1962 FIFA World Cup brought disappointing results for West Germany and Fahrian didn't have the best of luck in the rest of his career also. Several moves later he retired after just 67 appearances in the Bundesliga.

[edit] Career as a sports agent

Fahrian joined the sports agent business at the end of his career and became a hit. In 2006 he worked as executive for ROGON Sportmanagement, one of the leading agencies in German football with clients such as Kevin Kuranyi, Marcelo Bordon, Fabian Ernst, Halil Altintop, Tim Wiese, Roque Junior and others.
