Wolf Link is a fictional character from The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess. He is Link's bestial alter ego. Usually, Midna rides on his back in this form. He uses his senses, digging abilities, and Midna's assistance to do things he normally cannot do in human form. At first, Link is turned into a wolf by being exposed to the Twilight Realm and can only revert back into human by gathering all the Tears of Light until mid-way into the game, when the Twilight Realm is fully removed from the Light World and the master sword is obtained. Then the player, through calling Midna, has total control over Link's form.

[edit] Gameplay
Link's attacking abilities in wolf form have a very similar feel to his human form. Instead of swinging his sword, his attacks consist of biting and tackling. As an alternative to the spin attack, he lashes his tail at the enemies. With the assistance of Midna, a field of dark energy can be created for a few seconds that locks on to any enemies within the field and allows Link to charge at all of them consecutively. (Unless he runs into a wall, in which case the attack stops) The weakening difference is he cannot use equipment. This is replaced by his Sense and Dig ability. The Dig ability allows Link to dig up buried objects such as buried Rupees, Hearts, or Treasure Chests or progress into areas normally unreachable. This is assisted by the Sense ability, which darkens diggable places. The Sense ability also allows Link to see normal people who are changed into mere spirit form inside the Twilight Realm. Likewise, he can see enemies normally not visible such as Poes and Dark Insects. Defeating these insects awards Tears of Light, which when all are collected within the area helps the local spirit revert the Twilight Realm back to the Light World's original state. Lastly, when Midna's icon appears Link is able to be assisted by jumping places the player normally cannot progress to. This is achieved by targeting Midna and lunging at her as she then moves to another place in the set path.
[edit] Warping
Warping between Twilight Portals is only available in wolf form. To warp, you must call out Midna and choose the Warp option. Using this ability, the player can instantly move to various places on the map. Midna can transport particular things between the portals, which is crucial for progressing through the game.
[edit] Transformation
When the human Link was captured and brought into the twilight realm, he was reluctant to follow Midna. He was jailed and the two met in a cell. Midna told him what to do. Human Link's transformations into his wolf form aren't optional until when you get the Master Sword. Before that, you have to only transform into a wolf when you find the twilight zone. Wolf Link has various different missions that he needs to do. His first three missions are finding golden bugs.
[edit] Sensing Requirements
Since Wolf Link has the ability to sense people, it is sometimes a requirement. Sensing is a very important part of the game for digging huge holes to get to another area. Wolf Link also needs to sense the golden bugs in order to find them. He can also sense people like on your first mission when you are in that cave and you sometimes can use your sense to find humans and talk to them.
Wolf Link also senses for other things, such as in the Arbiter's Grounds, you can sense for mice.
