WOGI, Froggy 98 FM, is a Froggy branded Country music outlet serving the Pittsburgh area. The station, which is owned by Keymarket, operates at 98.3MHz with an ERP 3.5kW and is licensed to Duquesne, Pennsylvania. Its transmitter is located in Pittsburgh. In addition, their format is also simulcasted on their AM sister WFGI at 940Khz, which is licensed to Charleroi, Pennsylvania.
[edit] History
WOGI was originally Adult Contemporary WESA-FM and was licensed to Charleroi, Pennsylvania. In the late 1990s they flipped to Rhythmic Top 40 as WZKT (Z98), but that format would go away in 2000 after it was sold to Keymarket, who in turn flipped to its current format. In March 2002 the station's city of license was changed to Duquesne, allowing the station to target Pittsburgh proper.
WOGI is the flagship station of the Froggyland network of stations in the region, which also includes:
- WOGG-FM(Froggy 94.9)/Uniontown, Pennsylvania(Covering Southwestern Pennsylvania)
- WOGH-FM(Froggy 103.5)/Burgettstown, Pennsylvania(Serving Wheeling, West Virginia)
- WOGF-FM(Froggy 104.3)/East Liverpool, Ohio(Serving the Stuebenville area and portions of the Youngstown area)
WFGI-FM (Froggy 95.5) in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, which covers the Johnstown area and eastern portions of the Pittsburgh market, and WWGY in Grove City, Pennsylvania, which covers the Youngstown-Warren market and the western portions of the Pittsburgh market, uses the "Froggy" slogan and is extremely similar to the Keymarket stations, but is not part of the "Froggyland" network and is not owned by Keymarket but rather by Forever Broadcasting, a sister company of primarily the same ownership.
