WNTQ, 93Q, is a Top 40 Mainstream station based in Syracuse, New York. The Citadel Broadcasting Corporation outlet operates at 93.1Mhz with a ERP of 97kw.
They are also one of two Top 40s in Syracuse, the other being Rhythmic-leaning rival WWHT (HOT 107.9). But unlike WWHT, WNTQ is more broad based, Adult-friendly, and at times conservative with their music, similar to another Top 40 that uses that same approach, WSTR-FM/Atlanta, Georgia. It has also worked for them in their favor, resulting in 93Q dominating the Syracuse Arbitrons.

The Contemporary Hit Radio programming on 93q was started by legendary, veteran broadcasters from WNDR in 1981. Syracuse names like George Plavacos, Dave Laird, Gary Dunes, Ted Long and Brian Ocean were the key players in starting the contemporary hit format at the station. This foundation gave WNTQ FM success as a Top 40 Radio station for many years to come. After the untimely death of George, a real estate company bought the station and their real estate (not broadcasting) style General Manager came in, blew us out in 1992, then walked away with a cool million a year or two later. Quite the shark huh? It's the nature of the business and only took a little time for it all to work out for everyone. The original group of programmers at 93q would like the good current programmers and, the ones in the future to know of us, and we hope you enjoy the station as much as we did. A place like Wikipedia gives us a chance to log our work history forever, and tell you a bit about ourselves for years to come. We thank you.
