WKNI

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

WKNI has a long history in a short amount of time in south Alabama. The story begins with a dream of a man named Edward Lewis. Known in the broadcast industry as Eddie Knight. Eddie saw the need for the "Truth"(or at least his version of it) to be told on a local level in his hometown of Andalusia Alabama. The "Good Ole Boy system" was alive and well in this area of Alabama. When you thought the 21st century would have brought with it the progress in across the country you just have to look at the lower Alabama area to find human rights issues alive and well. Handful of locals run an entire community. These same people decide who is to be or not to be. The story can go on but the Bottom line here is, Eddie Knight boldly and some say wildly struck out one person against the many that had the power and the money to control most and bring others to submission. Eddie Knight however jumped hard and fast and caught many by surprise. This gave him the edge he needed to gain the respect of the working people in the community. That began the changes in elections as well as the face of politics in the area. Some say Eddie used a "Jerry Springer" style of entertainment to the community and instead of the so called trailer park trash fighting it out on the media it was the Rich and powerful who got caught in Eddies snag wire.(Truth is Eddie likes to think of himself as some kind of guru with a large following) WKNI is a Low Power TV station that has had a huge impact on its local community. The true meaning of a community service television station has been met with WKNI-LP TV 25. Truth is WKNI can't get any local supporters as no one wants to be associated with Mr. Lewis's diatribe against the local goverment and some fear that WKNI as an embarrassment to the town of Andalusia.

We will provide a bio as well as more history of the TV station that went from "I think I can"....to "I KNOW I CAN" ....
