WKGO is an FM radio station at 106.1 mHz, serving the greater Cumberland, Maryland area. As "GO 106", it played the latest top 40 hits throughout the 1980s and early 1990s. Starting in the mid-'90s the format began to evolve, first to a roughly 50-50 mix of hot adult contemporary and classic hits, then gradually moving more "classic" and more rock-heavy until it became more of a direct competitor to longtime area rock outlet WQZK (and in fact is now alone in the format locally since that station switched to CHR). "Classic Rock to New Rock" is GO 106's current positioning statement. A typical WKGO songset might include The Eagles, U2, Pink Floyd, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Nickelback.
