WKCY AM is a radio station in Harrisonburg, Virginia broadcasting at 1300 kHz and is a Shenandoah Valley news and talk radio station. It is owned and operated by Clear Channel Communications. Its transmitter is located west of Mount Solon, Virginia. WKCY-AM simulcasts on sister-station WKCI-AM 970 in Waynesboro, Virginia
WKCY-AM went on the air in 1968. For many years the 5000 watt daytime station would sign off using the Red Foley tune "Peace in the Valley". WKCY was country until Mid-Atlantic (owners of WINC) bought the AM1300 and sister FM104.3 (then WJSY) in 1988. In the early 90's, WKCY-AM flipped to talk then to the "Music of Your Life" format, then back to talk. Mid-Atlantic sold WKCY-AM/FM to Clear Channel in 2000. WKCY-AM/FM's studios are on University Blvd. near the Valley Mall in Harrisonburg.
