WJAB

WJAB, known as "The Big Jab" is a sports radio station out of Portland, Maine. It is on 1440 AM (WJAE, licensed to Westbrook, 900 AM and 95.5 FM (WJJB AM/FM, both licensed to Brunswick. It is located on 779 Warren Avenue in Portland, Maine. Currently the station airs Sporting News Radio, Boston Red Sox baseball and Portland Pirates ice hockey.
The Big JAB (as WJAB) first came into prominence in the early 1960s, when it signed on as a (daytime-only) top 40 music station, giving major competition to cross-town WLOB. WJAB immediately became the top rated station in Portland, a position it held throughout the 1960s. More recently, WJAB has been authorized to broadcast at night.
