"With Portfolio" is a song by Scottish Post-rock Mogwai from their 1997 debut album, Young Team.
[edit] Overview
Brendan O'Hare was once described by NME as Teenage Fanclub's "Monkey Without Portfolio", which promted the title of the track, which is the second of three piano instrumentals spread throughout Young Team. The other two songs are "Radar Maker" and "A Cheery Wave From Stranded Youngsters".
[edit] Musical structure
It is a short instrumental, based around a piano melody, which is repeated throughout the song. Feedback fades in gradually until roaring level, then the song ends abruptly, switching from the loud feedback to the quiet opening riff of "R U Still in 2 It?", showing the early quiet/loud contrast Mogwai are now famous for.
