[edit] Plot summary
While investigating the Fleurs du Mal, Abel Nightroad and Father Tres Iqus -- an android, code named Gunslinger -- find a sole survivor among a number of vampires who seem to have killed each other: A young girl. It is soon discovered that the young girl, a witch, has the ability to turn both humans and vampires against each other via physical touch. She attempts to escape Vatican captivity and as she does so, Gunslinger attempts to follow through on his orders that the girl must be eliminated before she is allowed to escape. Nightroad, who aims to protect the girl, is also targeted under Gunslinger's mission parameters and so with little choice, Nightroad temporarily disables the android with a high voltage cable. The girl is then kidnapped again by the Fleurs du Mal. Abel follows them so as to rescue her, and is followed by reactivated Father Tres, whose mission to eliminate both Abel and the girl is still incomplete. Gunslinger arrives at the Fleurs du Mal hideout and kills several vampires before confronting both Nightroad and the girl. When he is expected to execute the two, who are helpless, he declares that he is out of ammunition and must abort his mission. At that moment, the same vampire who kidnapped the girl appears and is promptly gunned down by Father Tres, revealing that he had indeed had ammunition the whole time and that his decision to spare them was a hint at his potential humanity.
[edit] Trivia
1. The scene when Father Tres begins the assault upon the unsuspecting vampires in a dark room is strikingly similar to a scene in the 2002 movie Equilibrium, when Grammaton Cleric Preston eliminates a room full of enemy combatants at the beginning of the film. Although both scenes are somewhat modified for each respective story, there are obvious similarities between the two, with the way both characters fire dual weapons while only moving their arms in the center of the room, at the end of Tres' attack when the camera points up toward him to reveal the lights on his guns, much like at the end of John Preston's attack when his gun barrels are glowing from the amount of heat given off.
