The Wisconsin State Fair is an annual event held at the Wisconsin State Fair Park in West Allis, Wisconsin, a suburb of Milwaukee. The modern Fair takes place in August (occasionally beginning late July) and lasts for 11 days. The 2006 Fair was held from August 3 to August 13.

The first Wisconsin State Fair was held in 1851 in Janesville with approximately 8,000 to 12,000 people in attendance [1]. The fair would migrate to different towns before finding its permanent home in West Allis in 1892. According to State Fair officials, 860,078 people attended the 2005 Fair.

  • The 2005 Fair introduced the famous Budweiser Clydesdales
  • Circus World Museum shows and exhibits
  • Agricultural exhibits of horses, cattle, sheep, chickens, rabbits, and other animals
  • The Birthing Barn (introduced in 2004) in which fairgoers can witness the birth of farm animals
  • Live music
  • A great variety of food and drink, including Profiteroles (cream puffs)
  • A large number of vendors
  • There is a large carnival featuring rides from Murphy Brothers Exposition. Some rides that might appear at this fair are Rainbow Valley's Freak Out, Spin Out, Super Loops, Kamikaze, Double Shock, Yo-Yo, Sizzler, a Zyklon Roller Coaster, and much more.
