Wisconsin Law Review
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Wisconsin Law Review is the principal journal of legal commentary and analysis published by students at the University of Wisconsin Law School. The Wisconsin Law Review was established in 1920 by students and faculty of the law school, and the first issue was published in October 1920. In 1935, the journal became entirely student-edited.
The Wisconsin Law Review is published six times a year. The law review publishes scholarly articles by law professors, judges and practitioners as well as notes and comments written by student members of the law review. One issue each year is generally dedicated to a symposium or special topic. Students are awarded membership on the Law Review staff based primarily on their performance in a writing competition at the end of their first year. First-year grades and contribution to the diversity of the journal are also considered.
In addition to the standard editorial staff, the Wisconsin Law Review is noted for the appointment of Malt & Barley Editors each year. These editors are tasked with encouraging consumption of beer produced by small Wisconsin breweries. Each year's Malt & Barley Editors-or "MBEs"-are appointed by the outgoing MBEs, based on candidates' skills in areas such as bribery, slander and alcohol consumption.
