[edit] Plot

Ebisu is leaving the rooftop. He tells Jiraiya that he believes in him and is putting all his trust in him. Jiraiya watches him leave and then turns around to see Naruto turn over in bed and continue to snooze.

Gaara is sitting on top of a large koi fish statue on top of a large building; windchimes hang from beneath its curved tail. The full moon is behind him and the wind is blowing. Dosu appears before Gaara, planning to attack Gaara in his sleep, but since Gaara is still awake; Dosu plans to fight Gaara then and there. Because Dosu wants to be able to fight Sasuke, and since Gaara is Sasuke's opponent in the final match, Dosu plans to defeat Gaara and then be able to fight his opponent, Sasuke, in the finals. Dosu (obviously) thinks too highly of himself, and believes that he can defeat Gaara's sand with his sound. Gaara is unfazed and comments on the full moon. Saying that when the moon is full "its" blood boils. And then he suddenly changes, his shadow begins to grown and tendrils form. Dosu is then scared and asks what Gaara is. Before Dosu can move, Gaara attacks him. The roof shatters about Dosu. When the cloud of dust fades a bit, Dosu's bloodied and unmoving arm is seen. And Gaara is panting on the roof.

Across from the large building Gaara is on is Kabuto and Baki. Baki is worried about how Gaara killing Dosu will affect the truce between Sunagakure and Otagakure. Kabuto assures Baki that Dosu had served his purpose long ago and that his death was meaningless. Hayate Gekko, the exam proctor is eavesdropping to the side of the small building that Baki and Kabuto are standing before. Kabuto gives a scroll to Baki, which details the strategy that will be used by the Sound to destroy Konohagakure. Just as Kabuto is about to leave, he asks Baki if he should kill the spy listening in on them. Baki tells Kabuto that he will deal with the spy to prove Sunagakure's loyalty to Orochimaru. Hayate flees and is pursued by Baki. Hayate doesn't get far until Baki catches up to him. Realizing that he must fight, Hayate removes his sword and uses Crescent Moon Dance to attack Baki. Hayate cuts Baki's shoulder but he is unharmed and instead compliments Hayate for his skill. Baki then forms a wind sword and kills Hayate.

Its now morning and Jiraiya is peeping on three girls in bathing suits who are splashing each other by a river. Naruto does not approve and teases Jirayia with his Sexy jutsu. Unfortunately for Jiraiya, the girls then leave, forcing him to teach Naruto. He is going to teach Naruto how to use the Kuchiyose no Jutsu (summoning jutsu). This technique works by summoning a creature to aid oneself during battle. Naruto must make a blood contract with the animal, and Jiraiya decides to let Naruto summon toads, just like himself. However, it seems that Naruto cannot summon by his own chakra. Naruto attempts to summon the red chakra (Kyuubi's chakra) but is unable too. Jiraiya realizes that he must somehow get the Kyuubi's chakra out.

Naruto uses Shadow Clone Jutsu to form a large number of himself to fight each other "to see whose the best of himself". A battle amongst the Naruto clones ensues for a while until an exhausted Naruto remains.

Now that his usual chakra is near depleted, Jiraiya demonstrates a summoning jutsu. He bites his thumb and draws a streak of blood across his palm. He makes some hand seals and presses his hand to the ground. Black words sink into the ground and a puff of smoke forms. The smoke fades, revealing the large orange and green toad from before. The toad hands Naruto a scroll from its tongue. Jiraiya tells Naruto that he must write his name on the contract in his own blood and then mark it with his fingerprints. Naruto bites his thumb and writes down his name next to the other previous owners of the contract. He then marks the bottom with his bloodied fingerprints. With that done, Naruto presses the hand he used to mark the scroll to the ground. The words sink into the ground and a puff of smoke appears. Rather than a large toad or any toad at all, an orange and green flapping tadpole appears. Jiraiya thinks to himself that Naruto has absolutely no talent.

Meanwhile, crows are flying through the sky over the village. Hayate's slashed-up body is found by a team of Konoha's ANBU. One of them, a woman with long purple hair, picks up his fallen sword and asks who did this to Hayate.
