Wirkman is Friesian version of the name Wirkkala, or Virkkala, a common family name from the Kaustinen region of Finland. Wirkman is is also the Wikipedia (and Skype) moniker for Timo Wirkman Virkkala, a libertarian writer and editor living in the Pacific Northwest.
