Wipeout teams
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Wipeout series of video games has had a cast of fictional racing teams that vary from game to game, with the exception of several teams that consistently make repeat appearances. They are represented by a region rather than by individual pilots, although Wipeout Fusion had two pilots apiece for each team.
[edit] FEISAR (Federal European Industrial Science And Research)
Appearances:
- Wipeout
- Wipeout 2097
- Wipeout 3
- Wipeout 64
- Wipeout Fusion
- Wipeout Pure
Team Colors:
- turquoise, yellow and white
Origin (est.):
- United Europe [2017]
Known ship models:
- LS-5600 MKIV (Wipeout)
- LS-59307 (Wipeout Fusion)
Known pilots:
- Sophia de la Rente (Wipeout)
- Paul Jackson (Wipeout)
- Daniel Johnson (Wipeout Fusion)
- Carlos Beneto (Wipeout Fusion)

- "Feisar Is Fair?" (Wipeout 3)
- "Faster Fitter Feisar - Strength In Unity" (Wipeout Fusion)
- "The Future Is Euro" (Wipeout Pure)
This team is a European group that has been part of the Anti-Gravity racing scene since its inception. Their ships are traditionally robust and maneuverable at the cost of top speed. They are identified by the colors turquoise, yellow and white; their current team slogan is "Feisar: The Future is Euro". They are as close as the series has come to having a mascot character, having appeared in every WipEout game without a single break.
[edit] AG Systems International
Appearances:
- Wipeout
- Wipeout 2097
- Wipeout 3
- Wipeout 64
- Wipeout Pure
Team colors:
- black, red and white
Origin (est.):
- Japan [2017]
Known ship models:
- 3240ii SRX (Wipeout)
Known pilots:
- John Dekka (Wipeout)
- Daniel Chang (Wipeout)
Mottos:
- "Th3 Futur3 I5 Now!" (Wipeout 2097)
- "Let's Be Friends!" (Wipeout 3)
- "For The Good of Mankind" (Wipeout Pure)
AG Systems began in Europe, but was bought by a Japanese company in 2042. Their past alignment with the European community may explain why their ships have similar performance to Feisar's. Later on, it was bought out by G-tech, much like Qirex being bought out by Tigron, and much like Qirex, the team was revived with the fall of the F9000 League. Their colors are black, red and white, and their most remembered slogan is "Let's Be Friends", although their current one is "For The Good Of Mankind". In the FX300 league, they slightly altered their strategy, favoring both maneuverability and extreme acceleration over top speed and shield energy.
[edit] Auricom Research Industries
Appearances:
- Wipeout
- Wipeout 2097
- Wipeout 3
- Wipeout 64
- Wipeout Fusion
- Wipeout Pure
Team colors:
- red, white and blue
Origin (est.):
- North America [2025]
Known ship models:
- A.R. 2700 Model B (Wipeout)
- T 808 Series (Wipeout Fusion)
Known pilots:
- Arial Tetsuo (Wipeout)
- Anastasia Cherovoski (Wipeout)
- Pascal Rouser (Wipeout Fusion)
- Franco Gonzalez (Wipeout Fusion)
Mottos:
- "A. No. 1" (Wipeout 3)
- "You're Never Alone with a Clone!" (Wipeout Fusion)
- "Pushing Back the Boundaries" (Wipeout Fusion)
- "Have a Nice Day" (Wipeout Pure)
Auricom is an American corporation that contracts for the US government. Their craft are traditionally heavier, faster in a straight line, and more well-rounded than their rivals. They are identified by the colors red, white and blue. In Wipeout Fusion, perhaps as an American stereotype, Auricom acts like an unofficial referee between the teams. They act very righteously, to the point where they make all the other teams sick. This is further reinforced by how their team's owner is into "the purity of the race" philosophy.
[edit] Qirex Research & Development
Appearances:
- Wipeout
- Wipeout 2097
- Wipeout 3
- Wipeout 64
- Wipeout Pure
Team colors:
- purple, brown, light blue and gray
Origin (est.):
- Russian Union [2041]
Known ship models:
- Quantax Design Model 4 (Wipeout)
Known pilots:
- Kel Solaar (Wipeout)
- Arian Tetsuo (Wipeout)
Mottos:
- "[Ex-Rated]" (Wipeout 3)
- "Extreme Force" (Wipeout Pure)
Qirex is a Russian team that is characterized by having very heavy, yet quite fast ships that have trouble in corners. Their craft are favored by more experienced players. They are identified by dark purple shades. Interestingly, they started out as a violent team that used their power and speed to muscle down the course, but as Qirex matured, they started racing "cleaner," so to speak. By the FX300 league, the major goal of their CEO was the revival of this storied name.
[edit] Assegai Developments
Appearances:
- Wipeout 3
- Wipeout Pure
Team colors:
- sky blue, white and khaki
Origin (est.):
- United African Nations [2113]
Known ship models:
- None
Known pilots:
- None
Mottos:
- "3000AD" (Wipeout 3)
- "Achieve" (Wipeout Pure)
Assegai is an African team that had very different strategies in the events of Wipeout 3 and Wipeout Pure. For Wipeout 3, their ship was fragile, but superbly maneuverable with respectable speed. For Wipeout Pure, they seem to have traded some of that maneuverability for a heavier, but much faster, craft. Their craft colors are generally khaki with a bit of sky blue. During the F9000 League, Assegai was snapped up by Piranha but were treated as a separate entity from their new parent company, similar to the automotive industry practice of companies becoming marquee brands for larger corporations.
[edit] Piranha Advancements
Appearances:
- Wipeout 2097
- Wipeout 3
- Wipeout 64
- Wipeout Fusion
- Wipeout Pure
Team colors:
- red and light orange/yellow
Origin (est.):
- Brazil [2060]
Known ship models:
- P.666 v. prototype (Wipeout 2097)
- Piranha II (Wipeout 64)
- Swiftkiller 6.0 (Wipeout Fusion)
Known pilots:
- Myima Tsarong (Wipeout Fusion)
- Jann Schlaudecker (Wipeout Fusion)
Mottos:
- "Feed Me" (Wipeout 2097)
- "Advance" (Wipeout 3)
- "The Hungriest Team Around" (Wipeout Fusion)
- "Just When You Thought It Was Safe..." (Wipeout Fusion)
- "Hungry For Speed" (Wipeout Pure)
Piranha Advancements is the most secretive of the anti-gravity racing teams. They made waves during the F5000 league by arriving with an unarmed prototype and dominating the other teams. Piranha apparently began in China but moved to Brazil very early on and have since remained there. Rumors used to abound that the team was run by the military. Their ships are traditionally fast and precise, their designs sleek and drop-dead sexy. They are identified by red and light orange/yellow paint jobs.
[edit] Goteki 45
Appearances:
- Wipeout 3
- Wipeout Pure
Team colors:
- pastel orange, pink and black
Origin (est.):
- Pacific Islands [2095]
Known ship models:
- None
Known pilots:
- None
Mottos:
- "Go!" (Wipeout 3)
Goteki is a company based in the Pacific Islands, specifically the man-made island of Makana. Their ships are recognized by their pastel orange and pink hues. Their ships are also generally a bit on the slow side and heavily armored, perfect for their racing technique. The team has become infamous for its violent tactics, not looking to compete so much as to destroy as much as possible. They are even more aggressive than Tigron. Due to their arrogant brutality, their base on Makana was bombed during the time of the F9000 League.
In a somewhat ironic twist, it is Makana that hosts the FX300 Racing League. It should be noted, however, that prior to the advent of the FX300 league, the company was placed under new management that now seeks to reverse Goteki 45's old image of a destructive menace.
[edit] Harimau
Appearances:
- Wipeout Pure
Team colors:
- orange, light blue and yellow
Origin (est.):
- Asia [2177]
Known ship models:
- None
Known pilots:
- None
Mottos:
- "Hi" (Wipeout Pure)
Harimau is a bit of an oddity: a team that willingly participates in a high-octane and sometimes violent motorsport in the name of global peace. They pack a nimble craft that seems to at least reflect their mission: theirs is a racing craft first and combat-equipped second. They are based in a coalition of Asian nations, and their colors are orange and blue. While a humanitarian group racing here seems odd on the surface, the cup it's in is among the most famous in the world, so they seem to have the air of a group advertising itself.
[edit] Triakis
Appearances:
- Wipeout Pure
Team colors:
- various shades of gray
Origin (est.):
- Russia (2132)
Known ship models:
- None
Known pilots:
- None
Mottos:
- "Mega©" (Wipeout Pure)
- "Hardcore" (Wipeout Pure)
- "Danger Ahead" (Wipeout Pure)
Whereas Harimau is an unlikely entry, Triakis seems to be a shoo-in. Triakis is a global arms dealer that decided to showcase their wares during the peaceful era of the FX300. As such, their ship is heavy, with thick skin, and can roll with the punches (or rather, missile fire) its opponents dish out. Their colours seem to be sky camouflage (shades of gray).
[edit] Icaras
Appearances:
- Wipeout 3
- Wipeout Pure
Team colors:
- dark pink, light pink, dark orange
Origin (est.):
- England, but fielded internationally [2109]
Known ship models:
- SunGod XVi (Wipeout 3)
- SG-FX300 (Wipeout Pure)
Known pilots:
- None
Mottos:
- "Fly Icarus" (Wipeout 3)
Icaras was an odd team that was founded by Burnston Burns and funded by various interested organizations. They created a multi-finned racer that was fast enough to outstrip any other ship in the game. However, it was not the magic bullet, because along with the high speeds came a terrible handling capability, requiring immense amounts of technical prowess to even complete a race in one piece. According to reports, they rarely ever did. Their colors were shades of purple, lighter than Qirex's. Lately, it was confirmed that their almost infamous strategy will be carried into the FX300 League, although this late entry in the league surprised everyone with their new design - while staying true to its origins of powerful speed and acceleration, the Icaras now has enough handling to keep the pilot from smashing into every wall along the way, making it a top contender for the highest honors.
[edit] Tigron
Appearances:
- Wipeout Fusion
- Wipeout Pure
Team colors:
- dark red, black, and yellow
Origin (est.):
- Russia [Unknown]
Known ship models:
- Bull-666 v3.1 (Wipeout Fusion)
Known pilots:
- Omarr Khumala (Wipeout Fusion)
- Sveta Kirovoski (Wipeout Fusion)
Mottos:
- "Are You Ready To Play With Fire?" (Wipeout Fusion)
- "Burn Baby Burn!" (Wipeout Fusion)
Tigron is a Russian team that swallowed up Qirex during the time of Wipeout Fusion, but lost them after the sport's collapse sometime between the timelines of Fusion and Pure. Their craft are recognized as being heavy and durable. Their colors are maroon and yellow, and the craft that appears in Wipeout Pure is their last Anti-Gravity racer, saved from the fate of rotting in an old hangar (according to the storyline). Their militaristic tactics and anvil of a ship gave rise to rumors that they were run by remnants of the KGB. They are also known to be violent, using their ships as battering rams due to their high shield capability.
[edit] Xios International
Appearances:
- Wipeout Fusion
Team colors
- Red and yellow
Origin (est.)
- Finland [Unknown]
Known ship models:
- name unknown
Known pilots:
- Natasha Belmondo (Wipeout Fusion)
- Zala Wollf (Wipeout Fusion)
Mottos:
- "Artificial Intelligence" (Wipeout Fusion)
- "We Think So You Don't Have To" (Wipeout Fusion)
Finland's Xios International is an elite group that uses pure high technology to stay ahead. Their ships are suitably fast and stable, second only to Piranha. The team is very conspicuous, mostly because Natasha Belmondo, the granddaughter of anti-gravity pioneer Pierre Belmondo, is the lead pilot.
[edit] EG-R Technologies
Appearances:
- Wipeout Fusion
Team colors:
- maroon, white, and beige
Origin (est.):
- China [Unknown]
Known ship models:
- EG-4303 (Wipeout Fusion)
Known pilots:
- Paul Cheung (Wipoeut Fusion)
- Alex Reece (Wipeout Fusion)
Mottos:
- "People's Heroes!"
- "Creating A New Age Of Civilization"
EG-R is a Chinese firm that seems to be even more secretive than Piranha, going so far (so the story goes) to threatening nosy officials. Nevertheless, they race cleanly. They share AG System's colors of maroon and beige. Their sticklike ships were thought to have used alien technology, or at least were built with some very unethical techniques. This was because they were the fastest ship (in a straight line) in the F9000 League, with Piranha their only equal.
[edit] G-Tech Systems
Appearances:
- Wipeout Fusion
Team colors:
- purple, lavender and tan
Origin (est.):
- Japan [Unknown]
Known ship models:
- G-4 Revver(Wipeout Fusion)
Known pilots:
- Roberto Sergio (Wipeout Fusion)
- Naomi Turner (Wipeout Fusion)
Mottos:
- "Products For An Accelerated Age"
- "If It Floats, It's G-Tech"
- "There Is No Gravity... The Earth Sucks"
G-Tech swallowed up AG Systems during the days of the F9000 League (WipEout Fusion), much like Tigron absorbed Qirex. Following the collapse of the league and the eventual rise of the FX300 League (WipEout PurE), they have not been heard from. Their methodology for developing the G-4 Revver was simply to buy their way out of any design problems, and the resulting ship was a durable yet distateful craft that quickly got outstripped by the rest of the teams.
[edit] Zone
Appearances:
- Wipeout Fusion
- Wipeout Pure
Team colors:
- Silver
Origin (est.):
- Anti-gravity Racing Association (est. 2197)
Known ship models:
- "Zone Ship"
Known pilots:
- None
Mottos:
- (none)
To call Zone a team is really a bit of a misnomer, since they are owned by the race's governing board as a test of pilot skill. The Zone ship is used to really test pilots by having a supremely powerful craft with nearly limitless amounts of speed and agility on tap. One catch: its shields are practically nonexistent. The ship, in Wipeout's popular new "Zone Mode", slowly accelerates to ridiculously fast top speeds, and the pilot is scored on how long he/she can keep it in one piece. The version authorized to race in the actual circuit is a redone version of this strange, almost ethereal-looking ship, with pretty much the same statistics. Why the administrators are entering a ship of their own design is a mystery, but it's a pretty good guess that it's an ego thing; that explanation would fit well, considering that the ship is very sexy-looking, every inch the perfect figurehead for what the Association, and probably the masses, think the ideal AG racer should be.
[edit] Van Uber Racing Development
Appearances:
- Wipeout Fusion
- Wipeout Pure
Team colors:
- Silver, yellow, and orange
Origin (est.):
- Germany [2143]
Known ship models:
- Name Unknown
Known pilots:
- Songen Grey (Wipeout Fusion)
- Nami Mishima (Wipeout Fusion)
Mottos:
- "Rest In Pieces" (Wipeout Fusion)
The German firm called Van Uber has a pretty good ship on its hands both now and back in Fusion's time. Either way, their ships are quirky little models that have some questionable aesthetics, particularly their long front stabilizers out on booms; not exactly the most pretty craft on the circuit. It also has an unusual center of gravity that makes the rear of the ship pivot outward during sharp turns. Bad looks and unusual design aside, their craft have a potent mix of speed and maneuverability, proving once and for all that you can't judge a book by its cover.
[edit] Al-Vaskei Research and Development (a.k.a.Puma/Coke)
Appearances:
- Wipeout Pure
Team colors:
- Depends on sponsor
Origin (est.):
- Saudi Arabia [2167, closed soon after, revived 2197]
Known ship models:
- Name Unknown
Known pilots:
- N/A
Mottos:
- N/A
Originally for a Saudi president's son so he could race in the F9000 league (Fusion), this craft was severely snakebit in terms of performance and funding. When the FX300 League rolled around, the team came back totally retooled, much more promising, but also broke...that's why the team races under its current sponsor's colors.
[edit] Quantax (a.k.a. Puma/Coke)
Appearances:
- Wipeout Pure
Team colors:
- Depends on sponsor
Origin (est.):
- Russia [2181]
Known ship models:
- F7200-era Quantax Design Model (number unknown at present)
Known pilots:
- N/A
Mottos:
- N/A
Proof that if you want something done right you have to do it yourself, Quantax was an offshoot of Qirex shortly before the FX300 League was born. If the name sounds familiar to long-time fans, it should: that's the name of Qirex's old ship line. As such, the latest Quantax model shares the original design and specs. It was founded when one of Qirex's older designers stated her dissatisfaction with the new Qirex ships...so she built her own, true to Qirex's old formula. Whether it proves another old adage- you can't go home again -is yet to be seen.
[edit] Medievil
Appearances:
- Wipeout Pure
Team colors:
- Unknown
Origin (est.):
- Unknown [2197]
Known ship models:
- Name Unknown
Known pilots:
- N/A
Mottos:
- "It's Time To Get Medievil"
Wipeout rarely features magic and the occult as a shtick, but the Medievil team is an exception. The team consists of the undead. As such, their ship looks decidedly Dark Age, which can contrast with the technological theme of Wipeout. Their craft are very fast and able, but the shields are far weaker than normal, an indicator of a certain disregard for personal safety by the dead racers. Its design is polarizing amongst fans, since WipEout is a futuristic racer, and an anachronistic team like Medievil is extremely jarring with the current themes.
[edit] Stealth
Appearances:
- Wipeout Pure (promotional package with the Stealth movie UMD)
Team colors:
- Dark gray
Origin (est.):
- North America [N/A]
Known ship models:
Known pilots:
- N/A
Mottos:
- N/A
The plane the three lead characters in the box office bomb Stealth piloted found its way into a special promo version of WipEout PurE bundled in with the Stealth PSP UMD. Their stay in the FX300 League was indeed brief, and the impression the "team" leaves is a very poor one. While they may have above-average top speed, their acceleration, turning, and shield qualities were average at best, and sorely inadequate at worst.
[edit] Wire05

- N/A
Origin (est.):
- N/A [N/A]
