The town's main route is a four-lane road which is an extension of Sunset Boulevard in Steubenville, Ohio which begins at an intersection with Ohio State Route 7 and continues. The road reduces to two lanes of Wintersville and merges with U.S. Route 22. The road is dominated by small businesses, fast food restaurants, grocery and drug stores, banks, and other typical business establishments as one might expect to find. Although limited statistical information is available, Wintersville is occupied by at least some residents who commute to Pittsburgh. The Weirton-Steubenville metropolitan area has been working to advertise itself as a suburb of Pittsburgh with a lower cost of living, safer neighborhoods and schools, and an atmosphere of small-town tranquility with major city conveniences. As a result, each weekday evening at approximately 6PM, the road from Sunset Boulevard in Steubenville to Main Street in Wintersville becomes quite concentrated with traffic. This temporary flux in traffic concentration is probably a result of the life of working in Pittsburgh but living in the suburbs of Steubenville and Wintersville.
