Winterhill School

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Winterhill School is located in Kimberworth, Rotherham, United Kingdom. The school lies on Little Common Lane. Opposite the school are the Winter Hills, from where the school gets the name. The school populates around 150 staff members and around 1700 students and accommodates children from Years 7-11.

Winterhill has also become an Accredited Test Centre for the European Computer Driving License.

The school is on the site of what used to be Old Hall Comprehensive School. That school was closed and demolished for various reasons, including poor architecture. The name 'Old Hall' lives on because of the City Learning Centre nearby.

There is no sixth form, but after GCSEs many young people go on into modern apprenticeships, work or into sixth form in other schools or at a specialised college such as Thomas Rotherham College.
