Winter was a childhood friend of Leia Organa, and a member of Alderaan's Royal House. She was sometimes confused for Leia because she carried herself more like a princess than the more rough and tumble Leia. While Leia began a political career, Winter stayed with her as an assistant.
[edit] History
Winter began helping the rebellion through the Organa family and proved herself incredibly useful; she doesn't forget anything she sees or hears. She was on an off-planet procurement assignment when Alderaan was destroyed.
Her perfect memory helped the Rebellion plan raids because they could make maps directly from what she saw. Unfortunately this caused her to become a major target of the Empire. Coupled with her enduring memories of everyone she lost on Alderaan, she was very miserable. She had many commands and code-names among the Rebels, but was known to the Empire as Targeter.
Winter, disguised as Princess Leia, did undercover work to act as a diversion during an assault by Rogue Squadron on an Imperial base. During her involvement with the famous squadron, she met her future husband, Tycho Celchu, also from Alderaan. She also helped plan the assault and retaking of Coruscant as Rima Borealis.
While Leia was rising in New Republic circles, Winter acted as her personal aid and memorized every word of entire meetings to help Leia. She was also key to finding Delta Source, the main spy on Coruscant serving Grand Admiral Thrawn.
Winter is best known for being nanny to the Solo twins, Jacen and Jaina. She originally kept them under guard with Leia's Noghri bodyguards (who referred to Leia as Lady Vader), but when the threats got worse Winter left Coruscant for New Alderaan, and later Anoth.
To safeguard her location on Anoth, the planet's coordinates were only known to Luke Skywalker, Admiral Ackbar, and Winter herself. Winter took arms to defend the infant Anakin Solo who was on Anoth during the one attack by Imperial forces (specifically Imperial Ambassador Furgan), and Anoth's automated arsenal fought off the Imperial ships. Afterwards, Han and Leia brought their children back to Coruscant, and Winter came with them to continue her duties as nanny.
In later years, Winter and Tycho Celchu were married. Once the Yuuzhan Vong invasion began, Winter became the personal assistant to Admiral Ackbar on the Mon Calamari homeworld.
