Winston Hills, New South Wales

Winston Hills is a suburb in Parramatta City Council, 28 kilometers North-West of Sydney, Australia. It has a population of around 7,000 people. The suburb was named after Britain's war-time Prime Minister Sir Winston Churchill (1874-1965). In the early days, however, it was named Model Farms as this was the area where a model farm was developed to show settlers the types of crops that could be grown in different seasons. However, The development of the suburb was mainly completed during the 1960's. There are two state primary schools, Winston Hills Public School and Winston Heights Public School and a Catholic primary school, St. Paul the Apostle in Winston Hills. Parks were not forgotten in the planning, so there are many parklands to relax in. There is also much bushland in the area with dense vegetation, creeks and wildlife. The town is also complete with both Winston Hills Girl Guides, Scouts and junior soccer, rugby league and netball clubs.

Winston Hills Junior Rugby League is the oldest sporting club in Winston Hills and more information can be found at www.winstontigers.org. The club is supported by Northmead Bowling, Recreation & Sporting Club (located on Windsor Road at Northmead on the fringe of Winston Hills) as well as Winston Hills Hotel which is situated in the heart of Winston Hills next to a major shopping centre. Accommodation is available at the hotel making Winston Hills a major tourist destination in summer.

Access to the city of Sydney from Winston Hills has become relatively simple with the addition of the M2 Motorway which separates the suburb from Baulkham Hills. Views to the city from Winston Hills are also possible.
